Qayibtay Castle was built in 882 AH in the place of the old minaret of Alexandria, which was destroyed due to an earthquake that occurred during the reign of Sultan Al-Nasir Muhammad bin Qalawun.

The castle is surrounded by the sea from 3 sides and this made it one of the most important landmarks in the world and is surrounded on every side by high and powerful towers to protect it against any aggression and its planning is like any planning in military architecture.
